STEREO

STEREO stands for Solar TErrestial RElations Observatory. STEREO is a project that includes 2 satellites which take STEREOscopic photographs of the sun and coronal mass ejections. The purpose of STEREO is that it can take 3-D photographs and send them back to Earth for scientists to study. STEREO has 2 satellites that are nearly the same besides their location: one is in front and one is in back of the Earth. The satellites can take different images: one regular images and one 3-D images. When they merge together, they make 3-D images and send them to down to Earth to the Kennedy Space Center in Texas. This is the purpose of STEREO.
